Everything about The Max Planck Institute For Astrophysics totally explained

The Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics is a Max Planck Institute, located in Garching, near Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It was founded as Max Planck Institute for Physics and Astrophysics in 1958 and split up into the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics and the Max Planck Institute for Physics in 1991.
   The four Directors of the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics are: Martin Asplund, Wolfgang Hillebrandt, Rashid Sunyaev and Simon White.
   The Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize winner Guinevere Kauffmann has worked at the institute since 2003.

History

The Max Planck Society was founded on 26 February 1948 as the organisation following on from the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gesellschaft. It was named after Max Planck, one of the founders of the Quantum Theory.

Graduate Program

The International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for Astrophysics is a graduate program offering a PhD in astrophysics. The school is a cooperation with the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich.
